She Gives: Women’s growing philanthropic power highlighted in new campaign
What’s missing in the picture of philanthropy? The answer is more stories of women’s giving. Figures show women give more than men and are set to inherit trillions in family wealth, yet they feature far less in the media and stories the sector itself shares. The She Gives campaign was launched this week to change this. Philanthropy Australia is proud to be a sector partner of She Gives.

Tim Fairfax AC was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Queensland on 12 July for his outstanding contribution to philanthropy. Tim is a highly respected grazier, community leader and philanthropist who has given generously to the arts, education and rural communities. He founded the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation in 2008 and served as a director from 2002 to 2017, and Chairman since 2020. He holds a number of other executive advisory roles and was a former Chancellor of the University of Queensland. Now is the time for Australian philanthropy to support clean energy solutions
Danny Kennedy, CEO of New Energy Nexus and a leading global clean energy investment expert, makes a compelling case that it is time to broaden the focus of environmental philanthropy. In this guest blog, he says that while it has traditionally focused on conservation, wildlife and biodiversity, which are important, now is the critical time to invest in renewable energy start-ups at pace if we have any chance of clawing back global warming to 1.5°C.
Australian youth mental health NFPs among recipients of US$3m grants from Lady Gaga’s foundation
A number of local organisations working to help improve outcomes for young people’s mental health and wellbeing outcomes were among 65 charities in 10 countries to receive grants totaling US$3 million from the Born This Way Foundation (BTWF) in collaboration with the Cotton On Foundation. Among them here were the Raise Foundation, Strong Brother, Strong Sister and batyr.
