Philanthropy Australia hosted 20 members on an enriching study tour in the UK in November. The group met with philanthropic, social sector and community leaders sharing experiences and insights around best practice.Gina Fairfax, the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation, Tessa English, English Family Foundation and Peter Johnstone, CEO Clem Jones Foundation, at the QLD Funders Peer Network End of Year drinks hosted by the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation. Philanthropy Australia’s New Gen Network hosted a dinner with the phenomenal Ronni Kahn AO at Refettorio – welcoming space in the heart of Sydney where surplus food from across the city becomes beautiful, soul-nourishing meals. Each seat we filled meant four more meals could be served to people facing food insecurity—a tangible way to pay it forward that made every bite meaningful.Ord Minnett’s sponsorship of the Philanthropy Australia Conference 2024 was followed by a series of events for clients, philanthropists and NFPs to promote the power of structured giving. The events brought together an incredible collection of panelists including David Gonski, former Philanthropy Australia CEO Louise Walsh, renowned philanthropist Alex Dimos, Lonely Planet co-founder Maureen Wheeler and investors Philip King and Peter Cooper. Tikesa Hale, xHalEvents.The First Nations Crowdfunding Event created an opportunity for Australians to connect, learn and collectively support First Nations enterprises.Philanthropy Australia members, board members and staff gathered in Sydney earlier this week for the End of Year Celebration event. The Sydney Street Choir delivered a heartfelt performance at our End of Year Celebration in Sydney, captivating an enthusiastic crowd that joined in singing Christmas carols.NEXUS and New Gen network members came together for a joint End of Year drinks event in both Sydney (above) and Melbourne. The evening was filled with engaging discussions as we prepare for a impactful 2025, with the NEXUS Australia Summit in March 2025. This type of giving is vital for creating positive social impact, contributing to community development, and addressing societal challenges, while fostering employee and customer loyalty and support. The Corporate Peer Network will continue in 2025 with new initiatives, masterclasses and professional development and networking. Stay tuned!The Future Generation Women fund was launched in Sydney on 4 December by Senator the Hon. Katy Gallagher, Minister for Women and Minister for Finance. Managed by women portfolio managers, Future Generation Women will bring a gender lens into investment decisions, while directing 1% of its assets annually to not-for-profit organisations working to advance economic equity and opportunities for women and their children. Minderoo Foundation has kickstarted the fund with $100 million. The QLD End of Year event was co-hosted with Perpetual and Queensland Gives.
