Philanthropy’s response to the terrorist attack by Hamas and violence in Israel and Gaza
Philanthropy Australia is appalled by the recent horrific and barbaric attacks by Hamas targeted at civilians, and the subsequent devastating loss of life, displacement and suffering in Israel and Gaza. We offer our condolences to those who have lost loved ones or have loved ones in danger in Israel and Gaza.
In Australia, many people have families and friends directly impacted. They may also have witnessed or felt threatened by rising antisemitism or islamophobia. This is of deep concern.
Given philanthropy means “the love of humanity”, philanthropy has a vital role to play in responding to the growing humanitarian crisis and we are proud that many of our members have already mobilised to this end. In these difficult times, we must do all we can to keep the fire in our belly, our hearts warm and our heads cool so that the love of humanity can prevail.
