Philanthropy Australia is proud to announce a new partnership with Perpetual Private to prioritise diversity and representation throughout the upcoming Philanthropy Australia Conference. The theme of the 2024 Philanthropy Australia Conference, ‘Shifting Perspectives, Shifting Practice’, and focus on shared power, demonstrates an important and growing area of attention for Australian philanthropy.

From speakers to convenors and hosts, from performers to participants, the partnership will ensure that the 2024 Philanthropy Australia Conference is reflective of the communities we serve.

Caitriona Fay, Managing Partner, Community, Social and ESG Investment at Perpetual Private, and long-term Board member of Give Out Australia said, “When the team at Philanthropy Australia approached us with this vision, we were delighted to support it. We have long been a champion for more diverse voices in our sector, and together with Macquarie Foundation, we were pleased to fund the ‘From colour blind to race conscious’ report into diversity in the sector which talked to the importance of this work.”

Maree Sidey, CEO of Philanthropy Australia said, “Embracing diverse voices is essential for achieving thoughtful and strategic giving.”

Maree added: “When we gather together on Kaurna land in Adelaide next week, for a Conference of more than 1,000 delegates, we will be joined by people representing many different parts of civil society including rural and regional, first nations, LGBTQIA+, disability rights, and culturally diverse communities.

“The aim is to create an environment where every voice is valued and respected, and shared power becomes more than just an ambition.”

The conference will take place from 5-7 August at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The partnership has provided scholarships and subsidised access to the conference for more than 25 delegates. Philanthropy Australia has also introduced a low-cost online attendance pass, enabling a more diverse audience to access the conference’s keynote sessions.
