In news that is both sad and exciting, Philanthropy Australia’s Executive Director of Policy, Government Relations and Research, Sam Rosevear has accepted a senior role as Head of the Research Division in the Higher Education Group, Department of Education, Canberra. Sam will be leaving PA in mid-July and will commence this fantastic opportunity in late July.
Sam has made a truly significant contribution to Philanthropy Australia over the past three years. Some of the achievements Sam has led include:
- Securing (in partnership with colleagues from Community Foundations Australia) the announcement of DGR 1 status for Community Foundations in the March 2022 Budget. This legislation has passed through the Parliament in recent days.
- Working with Dr Andrew Leigh MP and others to secure the April 2022 commitment that an Albanese Government would work with the philanthropic, for-purpose and business sectors to develop a Strategy to Double Giving to Charity by 2030.
- Making a stronger case for philanthropy reforms to capture government’s attention: A more powerful means of setting a vision for what philanthropy could do for society, with strong policy propositions and compelling rationale for their implementation.
- Leading the development of policy work that will help us achieve policy reforms in the years to come – including Super bequests and Tax and Charitable sector reforms.
- Delivering the content for 2023’s sold out Philanthropy Meets Parliament Summit, which featured sector leaders as well as MPs from across the Parliament.
Please join us in thanking Sam for his considerable contribution to Philanthropy Australia. We wish him well on the next leg of his journey.
