Philanthropy Australia has welcomed the release of the final report of the Productivity Commission’s ‘once in a generation’ philanthropy inquiry, Future Foundations for Giving, which was tabled in Parliament yesterday afternoon. The report makes it clear that the Australian Government needs to implement significant reforms to build stronger policy foundations for growing giving in Australia. |

In late March this year, The Ian Potter Foundation announced the retirement of Mr Charles Goode AC from its Board of Governors, effective April 2024. Charles joined the Board at the request of Sir Ian Potter in 1987 and was appointed Chairman in 1994 after the Founder's death. New research shows more than 71% of Australians think community organisations make the world a better place, among other findings. The Community Compass report, conducted by 89 Degrees East and commissioned by the social enterprise Our Community and the Community Council for Australia, is based on a survey of more than 3,000 people. It divided Australians into six attitudinal segments based on their answers to 39 questions, providing fresh insights on engagement for sector leaders.

The Williamson Community Leadership Program is a unique, immersive, 10-month long program for experienced leaders. Often described as life-changing, the Williamson Community Leadership Program expands the way leaders see the world and transforms the way they exercise leadership. It pushes them to experiment – continually challenging how and why they lead – while building a trusted, life-long network. The aim of the Melbourne Women’s Foundation Changemaker Grants is to help improve the wellbeing of women in metropolitan Melbourne. The Changemaker Grants ($80,000 Capacity Building Grant and $45,000 Enabling Grant) are available for two non-profit organisations striving to do outstanding work for the benefit of adult women or women together with their families.

Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) Grants help social enterprises, including trading First Nations-owned or controlled organisations with a defined social benefit, grow their business, scale their impact and further their missions of creating positive social change. The grants, valued at up to $120,000 each, are targeted towards supporting social enterprises to be more effective and efficient in demonstrating and increasing social impact for the people and communities they exist to support.
