The Secretary to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Glyn Davis AC, last night delivered the Kenneth Myer Lecture at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. A public policy specialist, Professor Davis’s lecture traced the rise of large philanthropic foundations in Australia, pioneered by the Myer family, and discussed their role in helping – and challenging – government to work more effectively in communities that live with disadvantage. Philanthropy Australia is pleased to publish his lecture in full.
