A new report has revealed the philanthropic sector’s issues and ideas for the coming year.
Philanthropy Australia’s second annual Better Philanthropy Telescope report has taken the pulse of the sector to help identify the trends, issues and opportunities that will shape the giving agenda this year. The report's findings highlight the local, national and world issues that philanthropists and not-for-profits will face together in 2024. |

Philanthropy Australia was pleased to see some good reforms recommended in the Productivity Commission’s draft report, including reforms to expand Deductible Gift Recipient status to thousands of additional charities. However, we believe the Productivity Commission could do more in its final report to recommend reforms that would deliver a step-change increase in Australia’s culture and practice of giving. |

There are 40 community foundations across Australia, engaged in deeply connected and life-changing work at a local level. A powerful example is the Inner North Community Foundation that provided $20,000 to the big-hearted not-for-profit St Mary’s House of Welcome in Melbourne. The grant provided a coffee machine and barista training to provide long-term prospects to people experiencing homelessness. |

The Australian International Development Network (AIDN) conducts Insight Tours designed to connect philanthropists, donors and impact investors with diverse, locally led development initiatives overseas to help break down barriers to funding. Julie Rosenberg, AIDN CEO, shares her experiences of a recent tour to Africa to illustrate how developing on-the-ground, trust-based relationships is key to increasing Australia’s support for global challenges. |

RACQ Foundation helps Queensland community groups, charities, organisations, First Nations Councils and clubs impacted by natural disasters. This includes both recovery grants and resilience-based project grants which may relate to physical, nature-based and social solutions.

The program, which is free for participants, helps back high potential leaders in the non-profit sector through fostering dynamic skills essential for leading teams, building resilience, and expanding their influence through storytelling. VFFF is excited to open applications for their QLD Backing the Future grant round, awarding one-off, $50,000 grants to 10 individuals or groups of individuals who are working to support young people in rural and regional QLD. Over the course of 12 months, grant recipients will research, develop and/or accelerate an early-stage idea aligned to one of VFFF's four focus areas: Caring for the Environment, Contributing to Society, Decent Work or Exploring Christian Faith and Values.
