Overview

Hear high-level expert insights from Dr Omaru Maruatona and Thomas Pinn. In this webinar, presenters will highlight the importance of online security. The presenters will share some practical examples of safe handling sensitive data and encourage organisations to invest in good practice structures.

Presenter

Dr Omaru Maruatona – Chief Executive Officer, Aiculus

Dr Omaru Maruatona is the CEO of Aiculus, a technology company that specialises in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Dr Omaru holds a PhD in applied AI and has previously worked with an Australian bank to build their internal credit card fraud detection systems. Dr Omaru has held Cybersecurity and AI specialist roles with Computershare and PwC Australia. Dr Omaru is also a board director for Bendigo Bank in Buniyong and a member of Singapore Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Working Group. Omaru has also previously served as an industry professor for an Australian university and is a distinguished alumnus at Federation university in Australia.

Thomas Pinn – Head of Information, Communications and Technology

Thomas has a background in software engineering and artificial intelligence. Over the last 20+ years (or so), he has worked as Chief Information Officer in regional and global roles for medical device and healthcare services providers such as Fresenius Medical Care and GenesisCare. In 2019 Thomas set up his own technology advisory business and entered the not-for-profit space as Head of IT at Royal Far West in 2020.

Thomas mission is to make a difference, be it working for a great not-for-profit organisation or privately being an advocate for sustainable living. When not working or enjoying family, Thomas is on road trips with his electric Harley Davidson motorcycle.
