Philanthropy Australia celebrates 10 years in SA
More than 70 guests gathered at Government House in Adelaide last week, as her Excellency Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, and Mr Rod Bunten hosted a reception to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of Philanthropy Australia’s office in South Australia.
It was a clear afternoon and Her Excellency greeted all guests individually on the North Terrace lawns. In her speech she commented that the introduction line moved so slowly because everyone wanted to thank her and Mr Bunten and she wanted to thank all the guests for their contributions.
The Governor summarised some of the history of philanthropy in the state and encouraged all South Australians to get behind the aspiration to “double giving by 2030”.
Philanthropy Australia CEO Jack Heath thanked her Excellency and other guests, including MPs and a raft of local members and supporters. He acknowledged a strong and active philanthropic tradition in the state. He said: “South Australia is well above the national average in terms of the numbers of Public Ancillary Funds and Private Ancillary Funds. Since Philanthropy Australia established our office here, we have seen a 50% increase in PuAFs and a three-fold increase in PAFs.
“We are looking forward to providing members with quality offering in the months and years ahead and hope you will be inspired to continue the journey with us into the future.”
