‘Telehealth for the social sector’ Expert Bar launched by Benefolk

Benefolk’s Expert Bar is a new online service that will enable not-for-profit leaders and their teams to access a broad range of experienced, pre-vetted specialists via its website for 45, 60 or 90-minute online or phone-based consultations. The Expert Bar is also a capacity-building solution for grantmakers and funders, who are looking for ways to support and strengthen their partners. They will be able to buy vouchers for the service to provide to grantees.

Support for local NFPs during and after droughts is critical to sustainability and recovery

A report commissioned by FRRR into its long-running Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) drought support program has found that funding locally based NFPs and community groups and activities that strengthen social capital during drought sustains communities and supports recovery.  The TTTT program ran from 2014 to 2022 and was collaboratively funded by government and philanthropy, awarding $18.6 million via 681 grants.

Skywalk Cafe: ‘It’s such a beautiful story’

At the Skywalk Cafe overlooking the stunning Murchison Gorge in Western Australia, tourists get a serve of traditional knowledge with their coffee from its Nhanda owner, Tony Wilton. Tony was able to take on the business on the land of his ancestors with the support of Aboriginal Tourism Western Australia (ATWA), which is backed by philanthropic funders. Providing start-ups with infrastructure, training and other support is helping Indigenous businesses in remote areas of the state to thrive.
