Australian Schools Plus and Paul Ramsay Foundation announce $4.7m investment in success for remote kids
The Paul Ramsay Foundation (PRF) has provided Australian Schools Plus (Schools Plus) a $4.7 million grant over five years to shift the dial for kids who are often left behind in rural Australia. This initiative will support 7,000 students across remote communities with targeted programs and resources, fostering academic achievement and overall wellbeing.
War Child Canada: How a Caribbean conversation is leading to a better education for Congolese girls
War has many victims and perhaps the most tragic are children. War Child Canada has established a radio education program so girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo can learn at home to avoid the risk of sexual attack on the way to school. The program is supported by DECJUBA Foundation after an unlikely meeting on Richard Branson’s island.
A fond farewell: How Raise and Zurich are ending their community partnership well
In collaboration with the Z Zurich Foundation, Zurich Financial Services Australia has been supporting youth mental health charity Raise closely since 2017 to support their substantial phase of growth and capacity building. While the grant funding comes to an end, Raise is now well set to continue its work to support youth across Australia.
Raise: Research highlights pressures experienced by young people today
Two important education reports were launched this week at an event hosted by David Gonski AC. The 2024 Australian Youth Barometer: Understanding Young People in Australia Today and the Independent Evaluation of the Raise Mentoring Program highlight the multiple demands on young people’s mental health. The Raise report outlined some of the philanthropically supported programs having positive outcomes the space.
