Pro-Rata Salary Range of $80,766k Base to $89k Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) plus 11.5% Superannuation + Smart Salary Packaging Benefit

The Philanthropy Team
At The George Institute, the Philanthropy team consists of four streams of work including Personal Giving, Structured Giving, Campaigns and Operations. Our work is not just about raising funds, it is about mobilising a coalition of visionaries, partners, and communities to drive real, measurable change in global health. You will work alongside leading experts in the field, engage with donors, and contribute to the George Institute’s mission globally.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Philanthropy Officer, Trusts and Foundations to play a pivotal role within our Australian Philanthropy team. We acknowledge that the skills required for this role can also be found in sectors outside of philanthropy and fundraising, so if you feel that your experience meets the below criteria, please consider applying.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Grant Writing & Proposal Development: Research, craft, and submit grant proposals tailored to funders’ priorities, ensuring timely submission of applications and reports.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with funders, organising presentations and meetings, when appropriate, to showcase The George Institute’s work.
- Grant Stewardship: Ensure compliance with grant deliverables, collaborating with researchers and the Finance team to provide accurate data and reporting.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal teams to align donor interests with funding opportunities and support broader philanthropy strategies.
- Database Management: Maintain up-to-date donor records, ensuring timely follow-ups and engagement opportunities.

- Experience in Successful Relationship Management: Please provide specific examples of past roles in fundraising, philanthropy or client relations, highlighting your experience in building strong, respectful, long-term relationships.
- Experience with Proposals/Grants: Please provide demonstrated experience in developing, securing and managing grants/funding partnerships from foundations, government agencies and/or corporate partners.
- Passion to our Mission: Can you please articulate your commitment to our mission and values?
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:-
- Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, client relationship management or related fields.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining donor relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting persuasive proposals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge.
- Commitment to uphold psychological safety at work and contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends.
- Experience in the nonprofit or global health sectors.
