The Philanthropy Team

At The George Institute, the Philanthropy team consists of four streams of work including Personal Giving, Structured Giving, Campaigns and Operations. Our work is not just about raising funds, it is about mobilising a coalition of visionaries, partners, and communities to drive real, measurable change in global health. You will work alongside leading experts in the field, engage with donors, and contribute to the George Institute’s mission globally.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Philanthropy Campaign Officer to play a pivotal role within our Australian Philanthropy team. We acknowledge that the skills required for this role can also be found in sectors outside of philanthropy and fundraising, so if you feel that your experience meets the below criteria, please consider applying.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Contribute to communications and campaign strategies to support the key objectives of the philanthropy team.
  • Plan, manage and complete all aspects of approved communications (print and digital) to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.
  • Write content pieces to support each campaign including but not limited to short editorial, impact stories, social media posts, invitations, and personal communication.
  • Prepare and execute digital communications including ensuring the philanthropy key messages are present in other digital pieces across the TGI and publications, including update and maintenance of content on the TGI website.
  • Plan, write and publish the quarterly Philanthropy email newsletter, ensuring it is produced and distributed on time and with high quality content.
  • Work with the Brand and communications team to craft other communications to internal audiences as well as messages in TGI publications; using institution-wide communications to enhance philanthropy messaging.
  • Produce informative and engaging graphics, illustrations and PowerPoint presentations to support our work, consistent with TGI’s branding.
  • Maintain content schedules or plans relating to communications and project manage key initiatives to ensure all materials are delivered on time.
  • Interview key academics or experts to inform content creation.
  • Conduct research on key facts and information to support campaign materials and objectives.
  • Work with external contractors where needed to deliver on campaign objectives.

Events:

  • Work with the team and stakeholders to design and implement an annual events program, coordinating event logistics and operations.
  • Source and maintain partnerships with key event delivery partners, including relevant communications and branding deliverables.
  • Ensure information contained in the CRM database is accurate and is fully utilised in the planning and preparation of events, with events and attendance evaluated and reported on as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with TGI policies and procedures in relation to security and VIP guests.
  • Attend and host events where required, including a small amount of out of hours work to do so.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in communications and digital marketing preferably in the area of philanthropy or other engagement related fields (membership, advocacy, campaigns).
  • Demonstrated experience in project and/or event coordination
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasively articulating the Institute’s mission and funding priorities.
  • Competence on communications platforms such as Canva and email marketing platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and building rapport with donors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering digital engagement campaigns.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience working with Salesforce.
