Permanent Part Time – 3 days per week (negotiable for the right candidate) Bridgewater, Lutruwita/Tasmania

The Material Institute is a not-for-profit entity that brings together 24 Carrot Gardens and a range of activities to support children, young people and their families to be healthy, resilient and able to achieve their full potential.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to broker a range of strategic partnerships and cultivate key relationships aligned with our Fundraising Strategy. As we enter into our fourth year of operations, we’re at a critical point of growth, poised to launch our social enterprise program including the establishment of a commercial kitchen and cafe.

The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing, optimising and expanding our network of relationships across philanthropy, government and other for-purpose businesses.

Position Summary

  • Deliver & manage the Material Institute fundraising program, pipeline & key relationships, ensuring alignment with established fundraising guiding principles.
  • Deliver on annual targets as determined with the CEO and continually develop the tools, systems and processes to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
  • Lead internal collaboration to ensure fundraising strategy and delivery approach integrates with relevant creative, cultural, social and environmental objectives of Material Institute.
  • Work closely with the CEO to ensure all partnership negotiations, contract developments and renewals are consistent with Material Institute’s policies and ways of working.
  • Work closely with the Content team to ensure timely communication of fundraising-related content including campaigns and calls to action.
  • Manage day-to-day budget administration for all partnership-related cost codes, as consistent with internal controls and policy.
  • Manage all reporting on ongoing relationships and partnerships, in collaboration with relevant program leads. Provide timely, accurate and useful reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Provide broader support to Material Institute as required with the evolving needs of a growing business and changing external environment.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team culture of learning, information-sharing and collaboration with a focus on improvement. Lead by example: exercise evidence and experience-based decision making.
  • Maintain relationship information in a centralised CRM database and manage contact lists relevant to communications, events, etc.
  • As needed, support the delivery of fundraising events led by our Founder and corporate partner, MONA.

The You

  • A purpose-led, passionate and dynamic operator, a specialist working within your field of expertise, with an established track record in delivering a range of successful fundraising, partnership and stakeholder management activities, relevant to the NFP sector.
  • Exceptionally well organised, with a proven ability to meet deadlines under challenging and/or changing conditions and a capacity to do so within an inter-disciplinary organisation.
  • Expert knowledge on fundraising legislation and requirements for compliance on a national level.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of inspiring a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Committed to achieving positive social outcomes and delivering KPIs, whilst maintaining a flexible approach to problem-solving and a capacity to develop professional, trusted relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with database and CRM software with an aptitude to learn new systems. Knowledge of Tessitura, or highly knowledgeable in the use of alternative CRM’s, will be highly regarded.
  • Thrives in a working environment that embraces emergence and ambiguity, and comfortable in a broad range of social/customer-facing settings.
