The Opportunity
Ruah is embarking on an exciting journey with the launch of the Ruah Centre for Women and Children (RCWC), a $30 million purpose-built, state-of-the-art Centre with a transformative service model, built upon a mission to end family and domestic violence.
As we work towards opening the doors in mid-2024, we reflect on a successful campaign so far that has raised $24 million. We are now looking for a Philanthropy Fundraising Specialist to further support efforts in engaging major individual donors, philanthropists, and foundations for both the RCWC and future Ruah projects.
Key Responsibilities
As the Philanthropy Fundraising Specialist, you will collaborate closely with our Executive, General Manager Marketing & Engagement, Partnerships & Engagement Lead, Campaign Team, and other stakeholders to:
- Develop and execute a sophisticated fundraising strategy targeting non-traditional funding sources.
- Build and nurture relationships with major donors, facilitating introductions and fostering ongoing engagement.
- Create compelling funding proposals.
- Drive sustained growth in fundraising income to support our transformative initiatives.
- Champion the significance of fundraising activities in alignment with Ruah’s strategic objectives.
- Contribute to the cultivation of a philanthropic culture within the organisation.
- Provide strategic insights to our Marketing & Engagement team for campaign-related matters.
- Foster a positive public image and reputation for Ruah within the community.
Qualifications and Attributes
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Significant experience in major donor and gift fundraising.
- A desire to activate Ruah’s vision, mission, and values.
- A proven track record in developing comprehensive fundraising strategies that secure major donors and philanthropic support.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to engage audiences at all levels.
- A passion for addressing socially complex issues and advocating for transformative change.
- Understanding of diversity, social inclusion, and Aboriginal culture.
- Outstanding organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and make collaborative decisions.
- A proactive and results-driven mindset with analytical and financial acumen.

- National Police Certificate
Candidate Notice: Ruah works with vulnerable clients in a range of health/hospital, public access, and client home locations. As a result, employees are required to have certain immunisations, including for COVID-19 even in the absence of public health orders. The is important for both client and staff health and safety controls.
