Together with their community, Cancer Council work tirelessly across every aspect of cancer, from conducting and funding world-class research; empowering communities through transformative information and support; to improving equity in cancer outcomes through bold advocacy.
Cancer Council NSW is in the early stages of an aspirational 5-year plan to positively impact the lives of people living with cancer, along with the cancer ecosystem in itself. More than $200M of investable programs, initiatives and novel innovations make up this ambitious plan, with philanthropy being integral to realising its success.
As Head of Philanthropy at this iconic organisation, you will shape and implement Cancer Council’s philanthropic vision, while building the governance, culture, and team essential for long-term success. Collaborating closely with a dedicated and driven CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you will be empowered to lead CCNSW’s dynamic, multi-channel program, focused on Major Gifts, Trusts & Foundations, Corporate Partnerships, and Key Events.
About YOU
- Outstanding senior leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to provide leadership while also actively pitching and pursuing philanthropic income opportunities.
- Demonstrated success in business planning, strategy development, financial management and execution in a fundraising and marketing environment
- Proven leadership of a philanthropic strategy with no less than 10 years of experience
- A proven fundraiser with an authentic approach and personal experience soliciting large gifts within complex philanthropy and partnerships portfolios.
- Proven ability to effectively lead, empower and manage, mentor and develop a growing team to achieve results
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to work with Boards, Fundraising Committees and Executive Leadership Teams
- Commercial acumen, financial literacy, problem-solving ability and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, maturity, initiative, and diplomacy
- Ability to work calmly under pressure, work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, CFRE or membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia is highly regarded
