The Australian Institute for Infectious Disease – (AIID) is a visionary initiative of the University of Melbourne, the Doherty Institute and Burnet Institute (together, known as the Foundation Partners) with backing from the Victorian Government as the Major Supporting Partner. The AIID is designed to protect Australia and the region against infectious disease and future pandemics. It includes establishing a Victoria-wide Alliance and delivering a new purpose-built faculty
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Director Advancement MDHS, the Director Philanthropy IDI is a critical role within University of Melbourne Advancement, working closely with the Australian Institute of Infectious Disease (AIID), The Doherty Institute and the Burnet Institute. This position will develop and drive philanthropy for the faculty’s Infectious Disease and Immunity research priorities, including the AIID philanthropic campaign, The Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics (CGCPT) campaign and the research programs of The Foundation Partners. The Director will oversee strategic fundraising initiatives, foster collaborations with academic and professional colleagues, lead a team, and cultivate high-value donors to maximise philanthropic income for IDI.
About you
You are a deeply experienced and highly respected principal and major gift philanthropic executive with a track record of leading integrated advancement programs. With proven success in fundraising at the $1M + level, ideally from medical research or higher education, you are well-known within the sector. Underpinning your knowledge of the development of feasibility testing, systems and models, are your superior relationship building skills, high emotional intelligence and ability provide high level, effective leadership and direction to staff inside and outside direct line management. Working with executive and volunteer leaders, this is a rare opportunity to be part of a truly rewarding and transformational campaign to translate scientific discoveries into pioneering health solutions.
