The Board and Management of The Ian Potter Foundation also direct and operate the activities of The Ian Potter Cultural Trust, supporting individual artists, and The George Alexander Foundation, which focuses on education and learning, particularly for tertiary students.
Reporting directly to the Communications Manager, the role of the Communications and Engagement Coordinator works across many facets of communications, including publications (e-newsletters, annual reports, brochures), event management, social media, website management, and public relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Communications Manager to ensure the effective delivery of the communications plans for the above three entities
- Development of communications material, including annual reports, websites, newsletters and other collateral, including research, liaison with designers and contributors, collation of material, writing, editing and proofreading
- Planning and coordinating events (virtual and in-person), including promotion, guest list management, venue and supplier liaison, post-event follow-up (surveys)
- Devising and implementing social media plans, engaging with target audiences via social media channels
- Monitoring of mainstream and social media to identify issues/risk management
- Dissemination of news and information to target media and audiences as required
- Management of systems for communications record keeping and archives
Skills/requirements
- Tertiary qualification in PR, Communications, Marketing or Journalism and/or more than three years’ experience in a similar role
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- High-level attention to details
- Creativity and initiative
- Experience in website, CMS and database administration
- Experience producing digital content (text & graphics) for websites, social media
- Experience with digital communications tools such as Hootsuite, MailChimp, Canva, Photoshop, Google Analytics
- Experience managing social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
