BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING LEAD (SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER)
MARIBYRNONG AND MOONEE VALLEY LOCAL LEARNING AND EMPLOYMENT NETWORK

Mmvllen’s purpose is to improve education, training and employment outcomes for young people with a focus on supporting young people experiencing disadvantage, discrimination, social isolation and from low socio-economic backgrounds in the Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley region.

WE DO THIS BY:
• Brokering and facilitating strategic partnerships and programs to support sustainable outcomes and addressing gaps in our community.
• Developing and facilitating collaborative approaches towards planned improvement and provision of education, training and employment.
• Engaging with appropriate stakeholders from education, training, business and industry, community and cultural organisations, government bodies and commissions, to achieve our vision across the community.

We have an exciting new role for a Business Development and Marketing Lead to join the team, for a 2 year term from June 2024.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
Purpose of role:
The Business Development and Marketing Lead will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth and expanding our funding sources to meet the organisation’s strategic goals.

Arriving at a crucial time, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help co-create the new revenue strategy they’ll be executing.

The role will focus on cultivating relationships with various stakeholders including aligned businesses, philanthropic trusts, sponsors, donors and a raft of other potential partners.

Additionally, the Lead will guide how we can share stories of impact through our marketing channels to expand our reach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Revenue Generation Strategy:
• Contribute to the development of the new revenue generating strategy, in collaboration with our CEO and external advisor.
• This will align with the organisation’s strategic goal of achieving an additional $300,000 in revenues over the next 2 years.

Execution of the Strategy:
• Co-ordinate the delivery of the new revenue raising strategy to pursue funding opportunities from aligned businesses, philanthropic trusts, sponsors, donors and a raft of other potential partners.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop clear messaging and materials for revenue-raising initiatives.

Marketing Communications:
• Drive our marketing efforts to build and leverage relationships with stakeholders by effectively communicating our impact.
• Work with our Communications Coordinator and the broader team to ensure our marketing is aligned with our revenue raising objectives.

Relationship Management:
• Work collaboratively with CEO, Committee of Management members and supporting stakeholders to leverage opportunities for further revenue.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders from potential funding partners to build a healthy pipeline for securing sustainable funding over time.
• Manage our existing commercial relationships to ensure ongoing growth and evolution of the relationships so they remain engaged.

Program Leadership:
• Develop and maintain a system to effectively track interactions with stakeholders to keep up-to-date records, including coordinating campaigns and managing stakeholder information utilising our CRM software.
• Create timely reports to demonstrate impact, progress against targets, and contributions to meeting revenue-raising KPIs, ensuring compliance with partnership agreements and informing the Committee of Management.
• Develop a process for efficient execution of high-quality business proposals and grant applications, monitoring timelines, deliverables, and milestones for successful implementation.

Other duties
• Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.

KEY CRITERIA:
• Qualifications – A degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is desirable and substantial work experience business development roles.
• Experience – Minimum 3-5 years experience in business development, fundraising, or marketing roles, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
• Knowledge – Knowledge of charity organisations role in communicating impact and cultivate supportive partnerships with funders from diverse backgrounds.
• Professionalism and drive: ability to represent the organisation with the up most professionalism and the independent drive to make a difference to local young people’s career and pathway opportunities.
• Stakeholder development: proven capability to confidently represent mmvllen to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The ability to invest in individual relationships to leverage our internal culture for the greater good.
• Strategic knowledge and implementation: proficient at interpreting and implementing strategies to achieve organisational goals, providing leadership to team members in business development and revenue raising strategies.
• Communication proficiency: ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying your approach depending upon the audience and different formats.
• Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail in written and verbal skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
• Values-driven approach: a commitment to working with and for young people with barriers to successful pathways and transitions, especially those with additional needs.
• Teamwork collaboration: demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively on partnerships and projects and get on with team members.
• Time management and organisation: proven ability to meet objectives within specified timeframes and handle administrative tasks promptly and effectively.
• Travel: Travel to a variety of meetings across Melbourne a driver’s license and full comprehensive car insurance is required.

TERMS:
This role is offered for a 2 year term from June 2024 to May 2026.

HOURS:
22.8 hours per week (0.6EFT)

LOCATION:
Hybrid role with minimum 70% time in mmvllen office or as negotiated

CHECKS:
All mmvllen employees are required to have a current working with children check card, a police check (undertaken by mmvllen) and agree to mmvllen’s child safety and COVID safe policies. You will be required to provide evidence of a COVID-19 including vaccination certificate.

SALARY PACKAGE:
Base salary
§ $100,776 per annum pro rata + optional salary packaging + Superannuation Sales Incentives
§ $10,000 annual performance bonus aligned to targets.
§ 5% incentive bonus for exceeding targets (uncapped).
