Expression of Interest Sought — Two Board Directors — 2024

The Baxter & Grimshaw Foundation Inc. is seeking expression of interests for two Board Directors for 2024.

The Board is looking to expand its skills in marketing and women are encouraged to apply for the Board to reach gender balance. Directors are required to:

• be actively committed to the Foundation and its Purpose;
• add to the diversity, skills and quality of the Board;
• provide or wishing to gain governance experience in a not-for-profit charity, and
• be, but not necessarily, a responsible person, as classified by the ATO for DGR endorsement.

The Foundation’s purpose is to financially assist, through scholarships, mainly disadvantaged youth gain maritime training and experience. An opportunity that they may not, otherwise, have.

Potential scholarship applicants are sourced through charities working with disadvantaged youth, schools and sailing clubs, for example.

The Foundation works closely with service providers, e.g., the tall-ship, One & All, the Australian Maritime & Fisheries Academy and yacht clubs, to provide the training and experience, and seeks funding through partnering with other Foundations, corporations and individuals.

The Foundation is an ACNC-registered charity with DGR endorsement by the ATO.

The Board:

The Board consists of six Directors, each having a term of one calendar year with tenure up to five years. The Board sets strategic directions and administers the Foundation’s assets and scholarships. The Office-bearers are members of the Seven Seas Club of Australia Inc. Board meetings are convened face-to-face in Adelaide in a consensus environment with any further business/communications made online. Board members are not remunerated.
