Deakin 2030: Ideas to Impact is the University’s plan for realising the best future for its communities.
Deakin’s ambition to be Australia’s most progressive university empowers it to be a university that does Advancement exceptionally well. As the University prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, it is poised to usher in a new age of Advancement. There is a clear interest in growing philanthropy and connecting with its graduates across the University, Faculties, research centres and institutes and at every level of seniority. The task to reimagine Deakin University presents a unique opportunity in its history – and future – to meaningfully embed Advancement into the life of the organisation.
Reporting to the Director of Development and a senior member of the Advancement team, the Associate Director, Principal Giving will grow the University’s principal gift pipeline with the objective of maximising philanthropic income for Deakin priorities. The position will actively oversee their own portfolio of significant prospective donors at $1M+, focussed on those capable of making gifts over $5 million.
Ideally, the successful candidate will bring a track record of major gift fundraising in a similarly complex environment, with the ability to achieve high philanthropic fundraising targets. Candidates with transferable business development skills gained in the higher education sector will also be considered.
